COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (7 Positions)

A team member to assist in leading the men’s prison ministry, involved in planning, strategizing, and implementing programs for in-prison (men) and community-based projects for identified communities of prisoners and ex-prisoners, drug users, and people living with HIV/AIDS.

(Based in Kuala Lumpur)

A team member responsible for initiating and ensuring the smooth running of Bumblebee programs, focusing on child empowerment and collaborating with related staff and departments.

We are looking for a team member to lead children and disability-related activities in the community. Candidates should have 1-2 years of experience in the disabilities field, with additional experience supporting individuals with special needs and their families being an advantage.

Community Organiser – Prison

About the position

The candidate is expected to uphold the standards of integrity and Christian conduct consistent with organization values.

This person is expected to assist in leading the men prison ministry. He is expected to assist in planning and strategizing the work in the men prison together with the different stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • To help in Initiating and implementing programmes for in-prison (men) as well as community-based projects for identified communities of prisoners and ex-prisoners, drug users, and people living with HIV/AIDS.
  • Assist Manager in partnership with local churches to address wholistic needs of the communities in the following areas:
    – Economic Empowerment
    – Social Empowerment
    – Child Empowerment
    – Spiritual Empowerment
  • Participate in client case management and journey with the client for their identified areas of needs and/or empowerments.
  • To organise and/or conduct awareness and training programmes on community development among churches and other relevant organization and agencies.
  • Liaise and network with grassroots level field workers, external resource persons in the community, churches, Government Organisations, and Non-Government Organisations for successful implementation of service activities.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Passion to serve the poor and needy especially for people from diverse backgrounds especially people come from prison, drugs AIDS background.
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude toward helping others.
  • Possess a warmth and approachable persona, to be able to connect and interact with people.
  • Strong IT literacy (eg. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, etc).
  • Willing to travel and able to travel independently.
  • Able to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Flexible and versatile; possessing the ability to wear different “hats” on short notice.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices related to community works are essential.
  • Experience on organizing and participating in community work.
  • Possess an analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to work during the weekends and residential duties.

The candidate will assist the Director in ensuring that the department’s administrative, functional, and organizing matters are managed effectively. This includes a supporting role to the needs of the team in the department.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Well-versed with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiar with communication via email, apps, and social media.
  • Perform secretarial duties including the ability to coordinate schedules, meetings, reports, and events within the department and across other departments.
  • Possess good organizational skills in terms of time (eg. multitasking, deadlines, monitoring), mental (eg. communication, documentation, analysis), and physical (eg. Record-keeping, office management, office solutions).
  • Experience in community work is an added advantage.

  • Experience in community development in both urban and rural setting.
  • Field work and willing to travel.
  • Willing and able to stay in the villages.

Personal Criteria

  • Preferably male, but female can be considered.
  • Indigenous.
  • Christian.
  • Minimum 2-3 years working experiences in social work or community work.
  • Possess driving licence and own transportation.

About the position

  • Assist in the overall function and operations of HR.
  • At least 3-5 years of working experience in HR is preferred.
  • Assist and coordinate the staff training programme and plans that is approved by the Management.
  • Represent the organisation in fairs and any exhibition related to career fair/HR.
  • Organise the Staff Induction Programme for new employees.
  • Handles the recruitment and selection process.
  • Back up role – Monthly payroll administration.
  • Able to undertake special assignments, ad hoc projects and related duties as and when required.
